Tha annual recognition of National Marina Day, held the 2nd Saturday of every August, has become a much anticipated event at Burnside Marina on Lake Cumberland. This year's celebration drew about 350 marina members and 150 or more boaters from around the lake. Featured activities included a Poker Run with about 70 entrants, a Hot Dog Eating Contest, and a "60's theme" costume contest. The Corps of Engineers, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Lake Cumberland Clean-Up were present to provide information about the lake, projects and boating safety. The day ended with a barbeque buffet and live entertainment provided by the band, Stagger Lee. Each year Burnside Marina's National Marina Day celebration continues to grow. 

Burnside Marina hosts Shrimp and Crawfish Boils throughout the summer. Boaters from all over Lake Cumberland flock to Burnside for the Saturday night Shrimp Boil. An "All You Can Eat" buffet offers, fresh shrimp, crawfish, sausage, potatos and corn on the cob for just $17.95 per person. Some Saturday nights feature entertainment by local bands. The summer shrimp boils continue through the second weekend in September.  

Emma's Dockside Grill has opened at Burnside Marina on Lake Cumberland. Emma's offers a variety of burgers, sandwiches and a wide variety of "dogs" including hot dogs, chili dogs, slaw dogs and bratwurst. Fresh slaws and potato salads and cold beverages compliment the menu. Emma's is convenient to the lake and ready to serve the houseboat vacationers on Lake Cumberland. Closed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Emma's is open Mondays and Fridays through Sunday throughout the summer.  

   Marinas International is hard at work to make sure that Burnside Marina, Beaver Creek Resort Marina and  WaterWay Adventures Houseboat Rentals are ready for another great season of boating on Lake Cumberland. The Army Corps of Engineers has started the Wolf Creek Dam Project and expect the repairs to continue throughout the year. With over 35,000 acres of open water and 1200 miles of shoreline, Lake Cumberland will still be fulfilling all your boating and sport fishing needs. Burnside marina and Beaver Creek Resort are currently undergoing modifications to ensure that the marina me members, visitors and houseboat rental patrons have the best access possible to Lake Cumberland. 
   For marina members, this means that docks are being extended and the electrical and water services are are being modified to accomodate the new configuration. Boat slip rentals are still available for boaters wanting to be on the water.
   Waterway Adventures Houseboat Rentals will be in full operation throughout the season. Small boat rentals and personal watercraft will be available for individual rentals a well as add-ons to the houseboat rentals. 
   This is a great opportunity to see Lake Cumberland as it has not been seen for in almost 70 years and to witness a modern marvel as the dam repairs proceed.
